First look at upcoming Sci-fi horror film “The Thing”, set for release on October 14, 2011. It is a prequel of the 1982 John Carpenter film of the same name. The film is directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. and the screenplay is written by Eric Heisserer and Ronald D. Moore and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Dr. Kate Lloyd, Joel Edgerton as Sam Carter, Ulrich Thomsen as Dr. Sander Halversen, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Derek Jameson, Eric Christian Olsen as Adam Goodman, Jonathan Walker as Colin, Kim Bubbs as Juliette, Stig Henrik Hoff, Trond Espen Seim, Carsten Bjornlund as Karl, Jørgen Langhelle as Lars, Jan Gunnar Røise, Kristofer Hivju and Jo Adrian Haavind.
Movie synopsis: Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) joins a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across a crashed extraterrestrial spaceship buried in the ice of Antartica. She discovers a creature that seems to have died in the crash eons ago.
When an experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate joins the crew's pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them and taking them over one at a time, using its ability to perfectly mimic any lifeform it touches, and eventually reaching civilization.
