harry potter, the half blood prince video game, video game

The video game is based on film of the same name. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Dumbledore prepares Harry for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching as Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information.

Half-Blood Prince will feature the exploration of Hogwarts and casting spells on objects around the school, similar to its predecessor Order of the Phoenix. The game will also include multiplayer games, classes, different times of day, Quidditch, Wizard Duels and Potion making.

I wish I was cool enough to play video games.

I liked this game, but it was completely slapdash in the going about of putting lines from the movie into situations to create irony and comedic relief. Hermione sounded like a total bitch, Harry sounded like a snotty prick. In fact, that only one that didn't sound totally unbelievable were the always fantastic Rupert, Tom, Bonnie, Evanna, and Jessie. The potions games suffer from crazed frenzies of time-racing (except of course when harry is high on lucky potion) and horrible underestimation of depth perception. The actors supplied to replace the phenomenal original actors for the other rolls were rudimentary at an optimistic level. Quidditch was a boring, frustrating through-the-hoops catch-the-damn-snitch-already exercise, simply repeated with two different characters and different uniforms. The actual graphics was highly reminiscent of the old Sims games. You know. Before they got decent. The only reason I liked this movie was for the beautiful castle and the fact that the actual storyline was my first novel ever to be read. Harry Potter would be ashamed if he saw the way his world was treated. Kudos go to the original actors who put their careers on the line to voice this.
