In this, the fourth thriller about the Camel Club, former CIA assassin John Carr (known by his alias "Oliver Stone") shoots the two men responsible for his wife's murder: a US Senator and the nation's intelligence chief. He boards a train bound for New Orleans but when he intervenes in a fight aboard the train and the conductor asks him for some ID, he leaves the train at the next stop. That brings him to a mining town in Virginia where he gets involved in intrigue, corruption and the life of a widow. Publishers Weekly's reviewer says series fans will be satisfied, but the novel isn't up to the standards of earlier books by this author.
