Percy Jackson, 12 year old half-blood. His mother is Sally Jackson. His father is Poseidon. And until one fateful field trip at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, he is a normal dyslexic kid. When he gets there, things get weird. His teacher, who turns out to be a monster, attacks him. He then journeys to Camp Half-Blood, an eternal camp for those unfortunate kids whose parents are gods. And just when he thinks things can't get any worse, Zeus starts blaming him for the theft of his lightning bolt, which has the power of a couple thousand nukes. Now he has to go on a quest to find Zeus's bolt, getting help from his new friends at Camp Half-Blood along the way. But who can he really trust?
