The Yankee Years by Joe Torre and Tom Verducci has received a large amount of pre-release press especially from the New York media, but also the L. A. Times.
The book chronicles Torre's years as manager of Major League Baseball's New York Yankees from 1996 to 2007. During that time he got to and won four World Series out of five, not an easy task for anyone. Torre also stopped much of the ridicule he received from the New York media upon his appointment. If winning four World Series doesn't prove you're worthy of the job, nothing else will. The fact of the matter is that Joe Torre became the most beloved Yankees managers of all time winning the respect of the fans and his players.....also not an easy task given the list of outstanding players he worked with.
The book was first published in 1978 by Cedarwinds. In Once a Runner, Parker illustrates the hard work and dedication that is required of an elite runner. Since its publication, the novel has become a cult classic for competitive runners of all abilities. A sequel was recently published titled Again to Carthage.
Quenton Cassidy is a collegiate runner at fictional Southeastern University based on the University of Florida. He is a distance runner who specializes in the Mile. After writing a petition for the college's football team protesting a dress and conduct code, Quenton is suspended from the university and prohibited from competing in the university's annual track meet. Cassidy moves to a cabin in the woods and submits himself to a brutal training regimen. He is under the coaching of fictional gold medalist Olympian Bruce Denton. His plan is to compete at the Southeastern Relays against the best miler in the world (John Walton) and Denton comes up with a diguise to get him into the meet.
The film is based on the novel of the same title by Jodi Picoult starring Cameron Diaz and Alec Baldwin, with Nick Cassavetes directing.
This is a story of Anna Fitzgerald who is 13 years old. Her sister Kate has been diagnosed with leukemia (cancer) since she was a baby-Kate's doctor gave the idea to the parents that they could possibly have another child who could be the donor of umbilical blood cells to the sister Kate. The parents, Sara and Brian conceived a child thru a Petrie dish that would match exactly to Kate's blood type for the purpose of putting Kate in remission.
When Anna is born, her cord blood is utilized to help (by then, 2 year old) Kate. No problem. There is absolutely nothing invasive about retrieving cord blood. It is taken from the umbilical cord after it is removed -and would otherwise be considered bio-waste.
When Kate, 16, is in need for a kidney transplant (the endless treatments of chemotherapy and other drugs over the years have caused kidney failure), their parents Sara and Brian demand that Anna donate a kidney to Kate. As her older brother Jesse turns to arson over his frustrations with his family's motto of Kate only, Anna has grown tired of being a harvest. She hires attorney Campbell Alexander to represent her in court in an attempt to get a judgment stopping her parents from using her body anymore. Sara, who is obsessed with keeping her beloved Kate alive at all costs, feels betrayed by her youngest child while her husband understands the immense pressure on his youngest daughter. Anna wants to help Kate because she loves her sister, but knows that it must be her decision not a mom who sees her as a biological feeder mechanism.

Eddie Murphy stars as a successful financial executive who has more time for his blackberry than his seven year old daughter (Yara Shahidi). When he has a crisis of confidence and his career starts going down the drain, however, he finds the solution to all his problems in his daughter’s imaginary world.
Anna is a thirteen year old girl who has healthy but has to donate her body to Kate, her sister, who has a rare form of leukemia. Anna was conceived only to help her older sister survive. When she is pushed too far, Anna fights back for the right to make her own choices about her body.
Her brother, Jesse has also had enough with his parents choices. He chooses to act out by setting fires, which ironically, his father (Brian) has to put out.
Their father, Brian, is pushed into a hard position. He loves his children and his wife, but sometimes his wife seems only to care about one person in the family, Kate. When Anna decides to sue them, he moves out with her and the family unravels more.
Sara, who in my opinion was a selfish woman who only cared about Kate, no matter the consequences to her other children, was supposed to be a moving character. I thought she was unbearably horrible. The true question of the book was who would ever allow a woman like that to become a parent?
This has been the 13th book written by Jodi Picoult, the book is about a family dealing with their youngest daughter's affliction with osteogenesis imperfecta (aka brittle bone disease) which causes brittle and easily broken bones. Willow, so named by her mother who wanted to give her a legacy of something that would bend and not break despite her husband's protestation that willows weep- here Picoult gives such a combination of foreshadowing because Willow turns out to be an amazing, strong little character with such a love and longing for all the amazing things in the world.
The story goes far beyond a girl or her family coping with a debilitating disease. Not unlike in "My Sister's Keeper", Picoult shines light on the relationship of two siblings... one 'normal' and the other 'broken' and the center of attention, 'handled with care'. The braid that exists between sisters of jealousy and love and connection. She also hits home with poignant moments that so many of us can relate to, for example when Amelia(the elder daughter) says, " "Yes," I said, the lie coming easily, reminding me that, even as much as I hated her right now, I was my mother's daughter.
Like many of Picoult's books, this one is written from multiple points of view and the chapters are titled with the name of whose story is being told and the date which provides a nice sense of continuity and timing.

Personally I would like to have my own Meta description show as the snippet for each of my blogger pages, means I have control over what is showing on search engines. I have always felt that the description Meta tag was very valuable because of the fact that search engines will use it to describe your site in the search results. Since Meta description and Keywords are not automatically generated for Blogger templates you must add them to the HTML markup of your Blogger templates.
I was having the code snippet as described in Google Webmaster Central Blogfor several weeks and suddenly discovered that the same Meta description and keyword tags were appearing all pages of my blog, This is highly undesirable and some search engines are known to ban a site that carry the same meta tags and descriptions on more than one page.
By using the code snippet from below, you can be sure not to spam search engines with repeated descriptions and keywords for your blog.
How to add the above Meta tag to your blogger blog template:
1. Open the blogger dashboard and click the 'layout' button 2. Click on the 'Edit html' tab 3. Add the above code just below: <b:include data='blog' name='all-head-content'/>
Replace the http://myblog.blogspot.com/ with the URL of your homepage. Replace the DESCRIPTION with a description for your homepage (keep it less than 150 characters).
Replace the word KEYWORDS with a list of keywords separated by commas and relevant for your homepage (keep word repetition less than 3 to avoid keyword spamming).
You need to follow the above steps for each of your blog post and place the code just below the <b:include data='blog' name='all-head-content'/> line.
A sitemap is certainly a good way to let the search engines know about the pages deeper in your blog sometimes it takes a while for MSN and Yahoo to index all of your pages, they pay more attention to pages that have proven to be popular as judged by the number and quality of the links pointing to the site. Since newer sites tend not to have many links yet, the engines crawls them less frequently, and one more thing you must verify your web site and this might be the first thing to search if Google, Yahoo and MSN are not crawling your web site.
Submit your sitemap to Google:
1. Sign into Google Webmaster Tools with your Google Account. 2. Click Sitemaps on the Dashboard make sure your blog is already listed and verified with Google. If not you must do it now before proceed to the next step. (Authenticate your website with Google, Yahoo and MSN) 3. In the text box, type either atom.xml or rss.xml. For example, if you add the Atom feed as a Sitemap, the full URL will be "http://yourblog.blogspot.com/atom.xml"
4. Click Submit Sitemap.
Note : Blogger uses an RSS-feed as a Sitemap and this done automatically for you, which is limited to the most recent posts. By default, atom.xml / rss.xml only contain 26 posts. If you want to increase the number of posts in your atom.xml, change your URL to:
atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=100 This will give you 100 posts.
If you have more than 100 posts, simply add another URL to get the next batch: atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=101&max-results=200 (201-300, 301-400 and so on...)

1. Sign into Yahoo Site Explorer with your Yahoo Account. 2. From the Site Explorer click Submit Site Feed.

Submit and verify your blog with Search engines will provide you with resources to help you learn more about the crawling and indexing of your blog pages and let you know how your website is performing in the search results. You can also tell Google about the pages on your site by submitting a sitemap.
