Black Death is a thriller film, set to be released in UK on May 28, 2010. The film is written by Dario Poloni and directed by Christopher Smith, and stars Sean Bean as Ulric, Eddie Redmayne as Osmund, Carice van Houten as Langiva, Kimberley Nixon as Averill, David Warner as The Abbott, John Lynch as Wolfstan, Tim McInnerny as Hob, Andy Nyman as Dalywag, Johnny Harris as Mold, Tygo Gernandt as Ivo, Jamie Ballard as Griff, Emun Elliott as Swire and Daniel Steiner as Monk.
Movie synopsis: The action takes place in 1348 in plague-ridden medieval England. Osmund, a young monk (Redmayne), is tasked with leading the feared knight Ulrich (Bean) and his band of mercenaries to a remote marshland village which has remained untouched by the Black Death. Their quest is to hunt down a heretical sorcerer, who is rumoured to be able to bring the dead back to life.
After a journey beset with harrowing pitfalls, Ulric's envoy finds the village, an eerie utopia led by a beautiful witch, Langiva (van Houten). After she offers Osmund his heart's desire, he is forced to choose between his faith and the secrets the village reveals.
