I had heard people in the tech community raving about this game before release, and was pretty skeptical based on what I had seen. LittleBigPlanet it likes nothing else, and it defies easy classification. To say there has been some hype surrounding this title would be an understatement. But even now that the game has been out for some time I still cannot properly articulate what makes this game what it is. And what it is great, the whimsy and feeling of the game captures everything that makes video gaming great. You can feel the influences of every genre and major game title from Mario to Metal Gear Solid. The ability to create, customize and upgrade is simply amazing.

LittleBigPlanet is just oozing with mischievous fun, as you guide your personal, highly customizable 'Sackboy' or 'Sackgirl' through the various levels, collecting objects and overcoming obstacles. The appearance and play is 2-D, but there is some motion which is more 3-D. Controls are relatively easy, and the feel of the action is fairly realistic as the game incorporates decent physics. To add to the complexity of game play, there are some obstacles that can only be overcome by cooperative play with fellow players who can participate locally, or across the PSN network. The gameplay is captivating, and is the first title in a long time that I have a hard time putting down as I just want to keep exploring!

LittleBigPlanet Game Review Video

game, littlebigplanet, video, pThis is all wonderful, but there's even more...and this is where this game is likely to excel. Users are able to exercise their creative side, and with in-game tools, design their own levels to execute, and even share across the PSN network. Completing the Story Mode gameplay serves to unlock additional tools within the creation engine, so if you're not very motivated to be creative, this game might not keep you interested for very long.

Overall, this game is a lot of fun to play. The creators of this game have amazingly pulled the textures and shapes from that imaginary world, and immersed you in them, as if it was all real. The art design is very creative, it makes you feel the kid in you and you will just want to fool around in the game. The game play is fun and rewarding, aside from trying to collect stickers and other items, you will be rewarded at the finish line for your findings.
