Shutter Island is a thriller movie, written by Dennis Lehane (novel), Laeta Kalogridis (screenplay) and Steven Knight. The film is based on the book of the same name by Dennis Lehane. Stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Patricia Clarkson, Jackie Earle Haley, Emily Mortimer and Max Von Sydow. The film was originally set to be released on October 2, 2009, but Paramount recently announced that it was going to push the film towards a mid-February 2010 (release date: February 19, 2010).
In the film, Teddy Daniels, and his partner Chuck Aule, are U.S. Marshalls assigned to look for a mental patient that has disappeared on Shutter Island, the location of a high security mental hospital for violent criminals that is funded by the U.S. Government where they seem to be conducting strange and secret psychological experiments. But things seem amiss from the very beginning. The inhabitants of the island seem limitedly cooperative and seem more intent on keeping their secrets than helping to find the missing patient. Teddy's investigation leads him to patients that provide veiled warnings for his safety and he begins to think that all is not what it seems. He must decide who he can trust and what is truly going on behind the walls of the hospital on the mysterious island.
